The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is one of the most repressive, human rights abusing states on the planet. According to its constitution: “The state protects Islam; it implements its Shari’ah [and] protects human rights in accordance with the Islamic Shari’ah” (Articles 23 and 26). Laws and punishments are determined by Islamic Sharia Law (Article 38).

While Saudis citizens are governed according to Islamic Sharia Law, expatriate workers are free to keep their religion, so long it is never displayed, and so long as they abide by Islamic social norms. All proselytism of Muslims is banned; and there is no public worship other than Islamic.

While “underground”/secret Saudi Christians do exist inside the kingdom, most converts with means will flee for their lives. In accordance with Islamic Sharia and Hadith, converts may (unofficially of course) be killed with impunity. Most converts are killed in family honour killings, thus enabling this Sharia state to keep its hands clean.
